Welcome to Animal Dermatology NZ
The Animal Dermatology NZ referral service is a veterinary practice based in Nelson, with supporting clinics in Wellington, Nelson and Dunedin. The practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of ear and skin disease in companion animals, also known as the "itchy dog" or "itchy cat".

The Animal Dermatology NZ referral service was started by Duncan Graham BVSc BSc (Hons) in 2001. At that time, Duncan left general practice to concentrate on skin issues. Although Duncan is not a specialist dermatologist (he is a veterinarian with a particular interest in companion animal dermatology) he provides dermatological expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic allergic skin conditions, recurrent ear infections, and any unusual presentations of a dermatological nature. Each week Duncan travels to a different centre to see cases referred by local veterinarians and once a fortnight sees skin cases in Nelson.

For most skin problems, your animal is best treated by your own local veterinarian. However, skin diseases can be complex or long standing. In such cases, your veterinarian may recommend a referral to a practice such as Animal Dermatology NZ Ltd that deals solely with companion animal skin diseases. This referral can lead to a more detailed investigation to reach a diagnosis of the skin problem and will include a discussion of treatment options.
